The Deacons of our church serve as dedicated servant-leaders, ministering to the practical and spiritual needs of our congregation while embodying Christ’s call to serve. Inspired by Acts 6:3, “Choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom,” they support the church’s mission by addressing tangible needs, promoting unity, and enabling our pastors and elders to focus on spiritual leadership. Their compassionate service strengthens our community and reflects God’s love in action.

How we serve
  • Meeting Tangible Needs: Address practical needs within the congregation, such as providing food, clothing, or financial assistance to the poor, widows, or those in crisis, ensuring no one is overlooked.

  • Promoting Church Unity: Act as “shock absorbers” to resolve conflicts and foster harmony, addressing issues that could disrupt the congregation’s unity.

  • Supporting Pastoral Ministry: Assist pastors and elders by handling logistical and administrative tasks, freeing them to focus on preaching, teaching, and spiritual oversight.

  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and care of church property, including buildings and grounds, to ensure a welcoming environment for worship and ministry.

  • Financial Stewardship: Manage and distribute funds for benevolent causes, such as supporting the needy or funding community outreach, under the guidance of church leadership.

  • Liturgical Support: Assist in worship services by proclaiming the Gospel, leading prayers, distributing Communion, or performing baptisms and other rites, depending on denominational practices.

  • Community Outreach: Engage in ministries like prison chaplaincy, hospital visits, or community service projects, extending Christ’s compassion to those outside the church.

  • Organizing Service Activities: Coordinate volunteer efforts for church events, service projects, or mercy ministries, mobilizing the congregation to serve effectively.

  • Pastoral Care Support: Visit the sick, elderly, or homebound, offering encouragement and practical help to meet their physical and spiritual needs.

  • Mentoring and Encouraging: Inspire and equip church members to participate in service, fostering a culture of mutual care and active involvement in God’s work.

Through these tasks, the Deacons ensure our church operates smoothly, remains united, and extends Christ’s love both within our walls and to the broader community.
